Playback of VCD Disks on a Computer

PC's and Mac's do not have native support for playback of VCD format disks, so if you are creating a disk primarily for playback on computers you should use the Image or MPEG format options which will autoplay on almost all computer types.

If your target is primarily DVD players then you should use one of the VCD formats, and you can use VCD player to view the disk on a computer.  You can download our free VCD player from:

Alternatively you can use Windows Media Player.  Select "Open..." from the WMP menu, then browse to the MPEGAV (or MPEG2 for SVCD disks) folder on your CD and double-click the .dat (or.mpg) file it contains.

If you receive a playback error then you probably do not have the necessary driver for that format on your system.  View our support page for more information:
